From an operational point of view, the DS-2 has CD reading mechanics by Teac, this unit is expressly dedicated to reading CDs, and uses a pure CD laser pick-up, an element that differentiates it from more commercial reading units based on a derivation of DVD players. Furthermore, it has a dynamic reading buffer lasting approximately 5 seconds: this allows the unit to read even CDs with surface defects with reater precision, without necessarily resorting to data interpolation.
REVO DS-2, therefore, can function both as a pure CD player and as a sophisticated DAC: through the configuration menu, users can personalize, if they wish, each digital input.
The option of varying the absolute phase of the signal (-180°) through a convenient button on the remote control is very convenient, and extremely useful for optimizing the correct reproduction of the 3D hologram of the virtual acoustic scene.
The models REVO CD-2 and REVO DAC-2 descend from the REVO DS-2 unit. In the case of REVO CD-2, the CD reading mechanism is present, but the digital inputs are absent, vice versa, in the REVO DAC-2 unit the CD reader unit is absent, but digital inputs are present.
